The Higher Awareness Group

Our August 24 Meeting - by Larry Jamison– We celebrated our 19th Anniversary at our second meeting in Au gust. Because I started this group in August 1991 following a day long UFO workshop at Allan Hancock College given by my friend Steve Canada, I decided it had been 19 years since I founded the group and time enough for a celebration. A brief recap for those who may not have been at that meeting: I actually had to come “out of a closet” to even attend this workshop as I had to get substitute driver to take my place at my part time job delivering pizza at Domino’s and felt I had to explain why I needed the day off. At that workshop I met some amazing people including one abductee, Diana Moll who had actually recovered an implant from her body. Seeing there were other people with amazing experiences and a strong interest in this subject matter, I said “we shouldn’t just have this one get together, we should exchange phone numbers and start a group to discuss these things.” Our original meetings were in private homes in Santa Maria and later in Nipomo. I put notices in the New Times (who even came to one of our meetings) and soon we had overflowed the living rooms and searched for a new place to meet. We ended up at the Roundtable Pizza Parlor, 1412 E. Grand Avenue , Arroyo Grande in the mid 1990’s where we meet to this day.
It had been my experience that the name of my radio program, “The UFO Roundtable,” had been too limiting because the very name suggested a narrow range of topics, so I changed the name of the program to “The Larry Jamison Show in the last 3 years. I felt it was time to apply the same logic to the name our group, so I had group members suggest a new name for the group that we would vote on. Jim Murphy suggested “The Higher Awareness Group.” I added “The Golden Age Awareness Group” and “Roundtable Awareness Group.” Ballots were cast at that time but it was decided to wait until the next meeting, Sept. 14 to finish the process because some people were out of town at the time.
Our speaker for the night was “Michael” from the “Little Astronomy Shop” in Arroyo Grande who shared his expertise on both telescopes and astronomy.

Hello everyone..Oops..I have to make a slight correction on the blog. Steve Canada was a stranger to me when I attended his UFO workshop at Allan Hancock College and it was gradually that we became friends after that. Thanks, Larry
